 Today, Saint Patrick's Day is widely celebrated in America by Irish and non-Irish alike. Many people, regardless of ethnic background, wear green-colored clothing and accessories. Traditionally, those who are caught not wearing green are pinched, usually affectionately. Seattle and other cities paint the traffic stripe of their parade routes green. Chicago dyes its river green and has done so since 1962 when sewer workers used green dye to check for sewer discharges and had the idea to turn the river green for St. Patrick's Day. Of course many of us like to frequent the local Irish pub.

One of the my favorite Irish pubs here in  Seattle is Kells. They have a full schedule of events planned to celebrate the holiday. Time to bring out the Chieftains CDs or the Pogues for you Alt/Irish rockers. Please do not drive if you choose to go out and celebrate. |

Remember to set your clocks forward an hour this Sunday. Daylight Savings Time kicks in at 2:00 AM. Which means we will lose an hour of sleep. And I planning on waking up early Sunday morning with my whole family and running St. Patrick's Day Dash here in Seattle. Should be fun. I plan on having a couple of Weinhard's after the race. |
